This is a FREE public service offered by the Collier County Clerk’s Office to help property owners monitor their property records for fraudulent activity, such as the filing of a fake deed, mortgage or lien.
What is property fraud and how does it happen?
Property fraud can be committed in a number of way when someone illegally uses your property by filing a fraudulent document in the Clerk’s Official Records. For example, someone can create a fraudulent document that will deed your property to them, and then deceive people into giving them money to buy or rent the property.
According to the FBI, property and mortgage fraud is the fastest growing white-collar crime in the United States.
How does this alert work?
Subscribers will receive an email alert whenever any document is recorded that matches the subscriber’s criteria in the Official Records of the Clerk’s office, such as a deed, mortgage or lien.
